Action for Peace against War

 Broad segments of south Korean people launched actions against the US keen on unleashing the second war on the Korean Peninsula on the occasion of victory day of the past Korean War in 1950s.  
 The People's Action for Peace against War staged a peace action at Gwanghwamun Plaza in Seoul on July 27.
Co-representative of the body sharply assailed the US is the country that provokes wars every parts of the world.
Denouncing the US that is pushing the destiny of the Korean nation to death, a student said he would carry on action to withdraw THAAD, abrogate the south Korea-US alliance and root out deep-rooted evils.
The participants urged the US to come out for the conclusion of a peace treaty with north Korea, shouting such slogans as "Stop war drills!" and "Withdraw the U.S. forces from south Korea!"
On the same day, the South Side Committee for Implementing June 15 Joint Declaration held a press conference in Seoul in demand of halt to the US-south Korea joint military drills and establishment of a peace-keeping mechanism in the Korean Peninsula.
About 30 civic bodies held a press conference in front of the US embassy in Seoul on July 27.
The era of dominating the world with violence is declining. The US should conclude peace treaty with north Korea, recognizing that the showdown with north Korea is hopeless, the statement issued on the day noted.   
Stressing that the people should propel the peace pact, they marched toward the Seoul municipal office, while chanting slogan “Conclusion of peace treaty”. 
 A civic organization held a press conference in front of the Busan Port.
Inter-Korean dialogue should be held in order to repair the south-north relations, it is high time to dispatch a special envoy to north Korea, withdraw May 24 step and resume Mt. Geumgang tourism, it said. 
The Solidarity for Democracy, People's Life, Peaceful Reunification and Sovereignty proclaimed the days from July 27 to August 26 as the period of the struggle against the US and war and expressed its stand to struggle to urge the US administration to stop war drills, drop the THAAD deployment, repeal the wrong policy toward the north and conclude peace accord.
